On Sunday, March 22, 2009, Pastor Derek was invited to talk about the Trinity at Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, Missouri with Pastor Brian Zahnd. These two friends sat at a table on stage during the WOLC Sunday morning service with Bibles and coffee in hand, and Pastor Brian interviewed Pastor Derek on the subject of the Trinity in what turned out to be a unique and insightful presentation of this ancient and insightful doctrine.
Pastor Derek continues his talk on leaving a charismatic subculture. In this message, he describes the kind of church that is free from the subculture, a church that is holistic, humble, and earthy.
There are certain Christians who have created a charismatic subculture around certain values related to the charismatic dimensions of the faith. Pastor Derek calls this subculture charismania and he is calling us to leave. Christian subcultures like this one is too narrow and too arrogant to contain all that God wants to do on the earth. For those who have been touched by the charismatic renewal, it is time to come down the mountain.
In preporation for the Answers in Genesis Conference with Dr. Terry Mortenson at Cornerstone Church in Americus, Pastor Derek discusses the creation narritave in Genesis 1. He discusses the poetic style of Genesis and the rhythm we are called to live in. This message also includes a discussion on the debate between Young Earth and Old Earth Creationism.
