Jesus Our Healer

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Jesus understands our pain; he has carried our pain, and he wants to redeem our pain. As we fix our eyes on Jesus the healer we must avoid three wrong ideas. 1) The mistaken idea that Jesus no longer heals today. 2) The mistaken idea that salvation is only a spiritual salvaiton. 3) The mistaken idea that God always chooses to heal people instantly when we pray. The truth is Jesus still heals today. Salvation is for our entire being both body and soul. And God may choose to heal people the day when we pray or on the final day when Jesus returns and the dead are raised.

Jesus Our Savior

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Jesus Christ became our substitute on the cross so that he could become our Savior, rescuing us from our sins. He canceled “our record of debt” (Col 2:15 ESV), by nailing our sins to the cross. In this message, Pastor Derek explains that forgiveness of sin means that we are released from the penalty of sin, separated from the guilt of sin, and free from the power of sin. This message concludes with a powerful prayer of confession and repentance.

The Offensiveness of the Cross

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

This first message in “The Cross of Christ” series explores why the message of the cross is both foolish and offensive. At the cross we do not see Jesus as our life coach, love guru, motivational speaker, or therapist. What people find is a find is a dying, failed revolutionary. But for those of us who are followers of Christ, the cross is central to everything we believe.
