Pastor Derek reviews the previous Sunday morning teaching series from 2009
Based on James 1, starting at verse 22, Pastor Derek talks about being not only a hearer of the Word–but also a Doer.
In this message, David Theiss talks about the importance of adding reason to your faith and the faith you pass on to the next generation.
When one of the disciples said to Jesus, “Teach us to pray,” He gave his disciples both a pattern to pray and a prayer to pray. Modern-day disciples are making similar requests, because most of us feel guilty that we do not pray enough, or we don’t know what to say in prayer, or we simply do not know how to pray. In this message, Pastor Derek discuses prayer using his translation of the Lord’s prayer derived from the KJV and NIV translations of Matthew 6 and Luke 11.
The Prayer of Jesus
Our Father who is in heaven,
Holy is your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who have sinned against us
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours in the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
The resurrection of Jesus is not the inspirational story of a revolutionary who died for a cause. It is not a story to inspire us to live a life of self-sacrifice. The resurrection of Jesus is a very true story of hope and life. Jesus’ resurrection paved the way for a new creation. Pastor Derek shares six new things that are available because Jesus rose up from the dead.
Why is it that God seems hidden in moments of temptation? Where is God when I am really tempted to go the wrong way or do the wrong thing? We believe God is there, but he seems a million miles away, especially when the doorway to temptation swings wide open. Join Pastor Derek in this exploration of temptation and discover why God sometimes leads us into temptation.
This message also include information concerning the persecution of Christians in the Indian state of Orissa. For more information on the relief work go to www.ietmissions.blogspot.com.
One out of ten American will suffer from depression this year. Surprising, two-thirds of them will never get help. What about us who are followers of Jesus? What do we do when we get depressed? And where is God anyhow when the long black cloud of depression settles over our hearts? Pastor Derek addresses these questions and others that arise when theology slams into reality.
