In Session 4 of our “Parental Guidance Required†parenting conference, Chris Rumble describes how parents can remain actively involved in their teen’s dating life.
In Session 3 of our “Parental Guidance Required†parenting conference, Chris Rumble shares his passion for parents to bless their children.
In Session 2 of our “Parental Guidance Required†parenting conference, Chris Rumble explores the call of Abraham and the plateaus he experienced in his life, which becomes a paradigm for parents today. At times the greatest obstacles to overcome in raising our children are our own character deficiencies that cause us to settle for less than God’s best.
In Session 1 of our “Parental Guidance Required” parenting conference, Chris Rumble describes God as the master epic storyteller who is writing the stories of our lives and the lives of our children. Chris describes the pages and chapters that God has written in his own story of grace.
Amos 3
Israel had broken off from Judah, developed a strong army and wealthy economy by plundering her enemies. They felt secure within their piecemeal system of worship in Bethel and in their lavish summer and winter homes. Such affluence brought arrogance and a disregard for God’s law. God’s message to them has been echoed in an old folk song, “You can run on for a long time, run on for a long time, run on for a long time, but sooner or later God’ll cut you down.” In this message, Pastor Derek discusses God’s judgment on Israel, the role of prophets/prophecy today, and why putting your hope in wealth and “going to church” is futile.
Amos 1 & 2
When God sent Amos from Judah to Israel in the eighth century BC, God revealed himself as the God who roars. His message opens with a war speech, where he announces his judgment on eight nations including Judah and Israel. As modern-day God-worshipers, we should come to attention and listen to the God who roars.
When one of the disciples said to Jesus, “Teach us to pray,” He gave his disciples both a pattern to pray and a prayer to pray. Modern-day disciples are making similar requests, because most of us feel guilty that we do not pray enough, or we don’t know what to say in prayer, or we simply do not know how to pray. In this message, Pastor Derek discuses prayer using his translation of the Lord’s prayer derived from the KJV and NIV translations of Matthew 6 and Luke 11.
The Prayer of Jesus
Our Father who is in heaven,
Holy is your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who have sinned against us
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours in the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
